With continuing speculation about the future of Tottenham Hotspur centre-half Toby Alderweireld this summer, Friday’s rumour mill was suggesting that chairman Daniel Levy was now ready to meet with Roma official Franco Baldini in London to negotiate a deal for the 30-year-old.
The claim from Sky Sports predictably leans on Sky in Italy which simply updates a previous claim they made about Serie A side Roma having an interest in the player given the £25million release fee that is in play for the next few weeks.
Sky suggest that Baldini will attempt to lower the £25million asking fee owing to the fact that Alderweireld could sign a pre-contract with them next January as he enters the final six months of his contract.
At least it’s a fresh claim I suppose, but I certainly won’t be holding my breath yet and with a fortnight to go until the release clause drops out of play, we definitely haven’t heard the last of this story yet.
