Report: Besiktas have ‘reached agreement’ with Tottenham for out-of-favour midfielder

According to TRTSpor, Besiktas have ‘reached an agreement’ with Tottenham for Georges-Kevin N’Koudou. The 24-year-old is set to join the Turkish Super Lig outfit on a season-long loan and will be hoping it goes better than last season’s stint at AS Monaco – three appearances between January 31, 2019 and June 30, 2019.

N’Koudou has been surplus to requirements at Tottenham, making only 27 appearances in all competitions since joining Spurs from Olympique Marseille in 2016. The former French international has played in only three Premier League games in the last three seasons and embarked upon loan moves away to get first-team football.

The 24-year-old racked up 224 minutes of football for Burnley (January 9, 2018 – May 31, 2018) 20 minutes for Monaco and doesn’t appear to have a future back at Tottenham either. Mauricio Pochettino has preferred Heung-min Son, Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura out wide, so N’Koudou has been made available for sale as a result.

Due to his lack of playing time and poor form – no goal in his last 52 appearances – it’s hardly a surprise that clubs aren’t lining up for his signature. Besiktas feel N’Koudou is worth the gamble, however, and are willing to loan him for a season. Whether they would potentially weigh up a permanent deal in 2020 may depend on N’Koudou’s performances.
