Report: £50m-rated UCL star ready to quit club with Tottenham and European giants keen to pounce

Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana is reportedly set to leave the club this summer with the Cameroon international already attracting a host of clubs for his signature, including Tottenham.

The Daily Mail report that the 23-year-old goalkeeper, who started for Ajax this season in the Champions League, is set to quit the Dutch giants this summer with Spurs one of the clubs listed as interested in Onana, with former club FC Barcelona also keen on the African goalkeeper as well as Chelsea, with the report stating that the youngster would prefer a move to the Premier League.

With a price tag reaching as high as £50m, Tottenham would have to spend a pretty penny if they are to lure the Ajax star to north London in the summer transfer window, where it is expected that Hugo Lloris could be replaced with the club captain only just returning to full fitness after suffering a nasty arm injury in the first half of the season.

Would Andre Onana be a good replacement for Hugo Lloris?

Yes

No

Tottenham have been interested in goalkeepers over the past few months, with the main target seemingly being Schalke goalkeeper Alexander Nubel as reported by TalkSPORT. However, the German youngster has agreed to join Bayern Munich in the summer after signing a pre-contract with the Bundesliga giants.

With Onana being one of the most highly-rated goalkeepers in Europe that plays outside a top-five league, the former La Masia academy graduate could be an excellent addition for Tottenham in the summer. However, the shot-stopper’s price tag could prove to be a problem for Spurs.

As well as his lofty £50m fee, which would be a club-record for Spurs as records from Transfermarkt show, competition from some of Europe’s biggest clubs could prove to be another problem for Jose Mourinho’s side, and a lack of Champions League football season could pose a major roadblock in their pursuit for Onana.
