Report: £18m-rated Tottenham misfit to hold talks with Pochettino; may have already played his last game

|

Victor Wanyama is set to hold talks about his future at Tottenham Hotspur amid the imminent arrival of Tanguy Ndombele.

Football Insider claim the Kenya international is prepared to discuss his fate with Mauricio Pochettino once he returns from the Africa Cup of Nations.

It is stated that the 28-year-old could be prepared to have a look at his options this summer and will look at possible destinations where he can get regular first-team minutes.

The news surrounding Wanyama should hardly come as a surprise though as there have been many times where his place in the Tottenham side moving forward has been questioned.

Just recently, the midfielder was thought to have been one of the players that Pochettino is keen to offload this summer to raise extra funds (London Evening Standard).

We also previously mentioned in an article here on Vital Spurs that Ndombele’s potential arrival would effectively end his Spurs career as the competition for places in the midfield continues to intensify.

Wanyama, arguably, is already behind the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks and Eric Dier and should the France international join us, then surely he will be even further down the pecking order at the club.

The former Southampton man, who is valued at £18million by Transfermarkt, has had moments of brilliance for us – there is no doubting that – however, injuries have really hampered the 27-year-old and his moments of producing the quality performances every week have dwindled significantly.

The Kenya international could arguably be one of the best midfielders in the game if it were not for the fact that he had to spend so much time on the sidelines – he made just 22 appearances for us last season in another injury hit year (Transfermarkt).

However, it would seem as though we may have already seen him in a Tottenham shirt for the last time.
