21 games into the season and our goals against record is not much to be desired. With and average of nearly 2 goals a game against us it screams to every spurs fan watching – “Ramos sort out the defence”.
You can understand why our strikers become so dishearten especially Berbatov when we can score goals but then concede goals just as quick.
Our set piece defending has become a joke with Match of the day pundits all commenting on how bad our defence has been this season especially when defending set pieces.
We have a goal difference of 4 to date over the 21 games scoring 42 and letting in 38. Only Reading, Sunderland and Derby have let in more but only just.
There is off course the January transfer rumours flying around and the question of Ledley King returning full time has always been there but lets face it King has been returning every month since October and now we are in January 2008, and yes he did have sometime on the pitch over the christmas break but how long before we lose him again as he didnt feature in the Aston Villa game either.
If we are seriously going to climb the table in contention for a European UEFA cup spot again then we need a defence that will underpin the whole team.
Spurs fans will have there own thoughts on who would be a defender worth bringing in this January but I would like to see an experienced defender who can command the back four like Steve Perryman used to do all those years ago.
