While digging away down in the depths of the Vital Spurs dungeon I found the following article.

The date was Saturday 13 March 2006 (exactly 11 years ago to the day) and Spurs had lost a Premiership league game at Stamford Bridge 2-1 after William Gallas had scored the winner deep into injury time.

The VS author, White Hart wrote…

‘The fans are still recovering from the weekend’s injury time loss to Chelsea. It seems many are questioning why exactly the team and manager can’t learn how to close down a game. A point at Stamford Bridge would have been a good result and you have to ask why the team can’t learn to be ‘more professional’ in order to close down a game. I guess the counter argument to that is we would then moan that they aren’t playing the attacking and attractive football we all demand, but for goodness sake, how many points have we wasted in the final minutes of games this season, I’ve lost count?

‘It has also occurred to me what a strange league it now is when we are all talking about 4th spot instead of top spot. Have the ‘top teams’ really pulled that far ahead from the rest that there is a league within a league? Don’t answer that!’

It was early in the VS days nevertheless I think it was worth venturing down memory lane just to see what members were saying.

Ok, the result was not exactly what we wanted but feel free to click here and read what members were saying all of those years ago.
