No more ‘Spursy’! The pressures on Chelsea now not us!

Roberto Soldado was not exactly a success for us even though he was a proven goal scorer but Bobby was one of the ‘Magnificent 7’ bought by Andre Villas-Boas. The comparisons between Bobby and Janssen have of course dragged on but you know what? Vincent is starting to grow into the job. His two assists at Swansea were very similar in style to the way Soldado used to slide the ball, back to goal, on to the on-coming attacker and you can see how his role as a second striker is more about assists than actually scoring goals. Poch will have seen that and I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a start against Watford instead of Sissoko, who really is looking lost. Poch will have a nice headache now with Janssen coming on, Kane coming back and Son in form! I hope Poch can find a place for all three as Son has really carried the line for Spurs in Kane’s absence. Spurs are a team of momentum, we have had wonderfully gifted players and even Levy said some of our football last season was ‘sublime’. We could play some of the best football in the country. But then we would either run into the wrong opponent, or run out of ideas and drop points with really disappointing performances. We would either play well and win or play badly and lose. Doing a ‘Spursy’ was the phrase that was born. Not anymore! Poch wants us to win all of our last eight games and why not? We have the belief now! Even the Chelsea players are feeling the pressure, stating they won’t crack!

Watford head to White Hart Lane on Saturday on the back of a 2-0 victory over the Baggies, with a bang in form M’Baye Niang’s and the old warrior Troy Deeney. That win moved Watford up to ninth in the Premier League table, 10 points clear of the relegation zone. Watford’s Midfielder Doucoure says the Hornets can play with freedom this weekend having all but secured their safety in the top flight. ‘Tottenham is a very strong team and will put up a very good fight against us,’ Doucoure says ‘…we have won two games (in a row) and I think we have to go White Hart Lane with confidence to try to win away.’The pressure is on Tottenham. Now we are ninth we don’t have a chance to be relegated and Tottenham fight for the title. ‘The pressure is on them, we have nothing to lose and have to play free like against West Brom. If we can do that you can see what we can do.’ Attacking midfielder Roberto Pereyra has a knee injury, while Ben Watson, Mauro Zarate, Christian Kabasele, Valon Behrami and Younes Kaboul are all major doubts for the game, Sebastian Prodl may return, however, but has he overcome his rib problem? None of the last six meetings between Watford and Spurs have resulted in draws, so the odds of them cancelling us out and getting a draw are slim.

The joy of scoring three goals in the last six minutes against Swansea was one of those OMG moments! Spurs are now the first team in Premier League history to be losing in the 88th minute before going on to win by two goals! We are fast losing our ‘Spursy’ tag. Yes, we were hoping City would have at least held the Chelski to a draw but you can’t take it away from our boys, our dramatic late victory at the Liberty Stadium was just the latest chapter in what is turning out be the roller coaster ride of all rides this season. Dumped out of Europe, twice! whilst turning it on, on the domestic front, we may have a seven-point gap to close but Antonio Conte’s men continue to hold their breath as Spurs start to show relentless consistency especially at home…and this is Tottenham without Kane, three wins from their three games scoring seven goals without him! Imagine what it’s going be like when he is back for the Bournemouth game! We are unbeaten in 15 league matches in front of our own fans having won each of the last 10 in a row, Watford will be walking into a bear pit of noise on Saturday. Watford have lost seven and earned just a single victory in their last 10 matches on the road. They have also failed to score in five of their last seven league away games, Walter Mazzarri’s team have scored just three times in their last six visits to the Lane. We have won seven league games out of ten without conceding. If we beat Watford it would mean a sixth consecutive win and put us 5 points away of Chelski as they go into battle with a tricky Bournemouth side who did the biz for us against the Pool.

Mauricio Pochettino believes Tottenham are punching above their weight in English football as we try to end nine-years without a trophy. ‘I hear people say that Tottenham must win a trophy this season or next, but come on,’ he said. ‘When you compare us with six or seven other clubs in the Premier League, you start to realise that we deserve a lot of credit. Spurs don’t have football World against us this year.’ Nobody wants to win titles more than we do ? the chairman, the players, and the fans. But look at the other teams in the top six, look at the investment, and look at the different things happening in the Premier League. ‘Rather than talking about winning trophies, we need to see that Tottenham deserve full credit and to be shown more respect. We all want trophies but we need to be more realistic. Winning a trophy is not as easy as, for example, going to the shop and buying a pen. If at the end of the season we finish in the top four, it is good for us. I have heard both Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola saying that finishing in the top four of the Premier League is like winning a trophy elsewhere. It is very tough to finish in the top four. The competition is massive, so for Tottenham to be there, fighting, is a big credit to our players, the club, everyone. To be where we are is a massive achievement for us.’

It’s one game at a time for Poch no one is going to get ahead of themselves this time!

COYS!
