Pochettino Looks To Long-Term Target As He Eyes January Spurs Improvements

|

With Tottenham Hotspur ticking along nicely in the Premier League campaign of 2018/19, it’s fair to say we’ve had a hiccup or two along the way and some fans would say some of them were avoidable.

With no signings made during the summer transfer window, the expectation is we’ll see some business when the January window opens, even if it’s not a splurge.

With December with us, the rumour mill will kick into high gear in the coming weeks and compared to speculation we’ve seen so far, at least talk of Mateo Kovacic is maybe more in the believable ballpark.

The 24-year-old is on-loan at Chelsea from Real Madrid and the Croatian is getting good game-time and having been tentatively linked with him back in 2017, AS have claimed that we will try and get him in the summer, if not January itself. The claim is his parent club want rid of him, so we may be talking in the region of £40ish million.

Scanning social media, surprisingly given what I’ve heard of the lad, it appears fans would rather more break the bank and get often linked Adrien Rabiot (PSG), Ruben Neves (Wolves) or Andre Gomes (on loan at Everton from Barcelona).

I thought more would like the Kovacic idea myself, although I can get why the above names stand out as alternatives.
