Pochettino Demands More From Spurs After “Tremendous” Palace Win

|

With Tottenham Hotspur losing summer signing Giovani Lo Celso to injury over the September international break, manager Mauricio Pochettino would’ve been targeting a return to winning ways as we welcomed Crystal Palace to White Hart Lane for Saturday’s Premier League action.

With Serge Aurier coming into the starting XI for the first time this season, it was a blistering start from Spurs. Son Heung-Min had helped himself to a brace within the opening 25 minutes, and with an own goal (Patrick van Aanholt) in between his two efforts, when Erik Lamela got himself on the scoresheet shortly before half time, we had a commanding and comfortable 4-0 lead at the break.

Although we couldn’t increase our advantage in the second period, we remained comfortable, albeit Palace had efforts of their own, but a solid performance and a great three points.

Onto the next one!

Speaking to the BBC

“The attitude was amazing and the performance was really good – we were very concentrated and had tremendous quality. It showed when you focus and concentrate and you are on the same page, working to the same objective, the quality is there. This is the first step we need to improve a lot, we need to be consistent. I’m so happy for the team and happy to build for a really good 21 days, with six games ahead. I think it’s important for the confidence of the team. The first half was like a recovery to make our fans feel proud of us and that’s what we need to do.”
