Pochettino Admits “Painful” Selection Dilemma Ahead Of CL Final

|

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino will be like a nervous kid at Christmas today as we spend the last few hours of preparation in Madrid in readiness for tonight’s Champions League Final against Liverpool.

History has already been made as we reached the 2018/19 final, but real history is there for the making if we can establish and advantage and take victory. Speaking to Sky Sports as he met with the press on Friday ahead of today’s nerves, he was obviously upbeat but admitted that the Harry Kane question had yet not been given an answer.

“All the decisions are tough decisions, it is so painful. But it is part of my job to decide how to pick the starting XI. This is not going to be easy to make a decision tomorrow. Every single game you need to make a decision and we need to know every single decision and we will make the one to try to win.”

Most fans will fully expect Kane to come back into the starting XI given his insistence that he is fit and raring to go, but we’ll all have questions about sharpness. Only his performance will answer those doubts, but one thing is for sure, he’ll be determined not to waste the opportunity but I still think I see more sense in having him on the bench and introducing him in the second half as he’ll be like a caged dog then.
