Player Ratings: Preston North End 0-3 Spurs

|

A comfortable evening for Spurs saw them defeat Preston North End 3-0 and progress into the 5th round of the FA Cup. Match report here

Here’s how the players ranked:

Manager rating- 7

A slightly weird line-up from Conte – deploying Perisic as a central striker. However, Spurs were comfortable most of the night so no criticisms from me.

Fraser Forster- 6

Tottenham’s back up keeper didn’t really have much to do today with Preston not providing much going forward.

Matt Doherty- 5

I actually forgot Doherty was playing tonight. Providing barely anything notable all night, a don’t think Pedro Porro will have any difficulty displacing the Irishman.

Japhet Tanganga- 6

A rare start for the academy graduate and Tanganga dually delivered. Calm and assured on the ball he was Tottenham’s best defender tonight.

Davinson Sanchez- 5

Despite not having much to deal with, Sanchez still managed to look extremely clumsy all night – he always seems to breed nervousness in the hack line whenever he plays.

Clement Lenglet- 6

Like most of the Tottenham defenders, the Frenchman didn’t really have much to do tonight. Ched Evans got the better of him a few times but it ultimately did not lead to anything meaningful.

Ryan Sessegnon- 4

Sessegnon’s display today showed yet again that he is not good enough for Spurs. A total lack of quality in the final third, time after time his crosses flattered to deceive. Time is up for Sess

Rodrigo Bentancur- 6

Relatively quiet night for the Uruguayan, a slick Maradona in the first half was arguably the highlight of his game. Looked very tired before he was taken off at the 70 minute mark.

Yves Bissouma- 5

Yet another disappointing display from Bissouma. The Malian seems to go missing for periods in games. Yet again he took no risks on the ball today, constantly settling for the easy option. Where is the Bissouma we saw at Brighton?

Dejan Kulusevski- 6

The Swede did seem slightly reluctant to shoot tonight, passing up the opportunity to let fly multiple times during the game. He did end up setting up Tottenham’s third, providing an assist for debutant Arnaut Danjuma.

Heung min Son- 8

Sonny is back with a bang! Tonight we saw the Son of old – quick, confident and clinical. The South Korean came close a few times in the first half – but eventually found the back of the net early in the second half with a beautiful left-footed shot from distance. He was then on target yet again with his left foot, calmly slotting away Tottenham’s 2nd

Ivan Perisic- 6

Looked really out of place in the first half, filling in as a striker for the rested Harry Kane. He did however come close in the second half, seeing his header tipped over the bar by Woodman in the Preston net

Subs:

Oliver Skipp- 5

Emerson Royal- 5

Arnaut Danjuma- 6

Bryan Gil- 5
