Player Ratings: Crystal Palace 0-4 Spurs

|

Sorry to use the cliché, but tonight was really a game of two halves. Spurs lacked quality and intensity in the first half, but Conte’s men seemed to flip the switch at half time, absolutely blowing palace away in the second half. Match stats here and Match report here

Here’s how the players ranked:

Manager Rating- 8

Was happy to see Conte persist with Bryan Gil in tonight and his decision to start the youngster came off, with Gil putting in a great performance – providing the assist for Kane’s second goal. Another good move by Conte was bringing on Sarr early in the second half, with the Senegalese midfielder getting some vital Premier League minutes.

Hugo Lloris- 7

Lloris, desperately needed a good performance tonight after his howler on the weekend. Thankfully for us Spurs fans, the Frenchman was on form tonight, making a number of smart saves to keep his clean sheet.

Matt Doherty- 7

The Irishman got himself into some good positions in the first half but struggled to provide the killer pass. That changed in the second half when he burst forward into the box being set up by Son, to calmly slot away Tottenham’s third goal.

Cristian Romero- 6

The Argentinian seemed slightly off the pace tonight, with Ayew and Zaha giving him a tough time. Hopefully, Romero can soon get rid of them World Cup cobwebs and return to his best form,

Eric Dier- 6

A much more assured performance from Dier tonight, following his dismal display at Brentford on Boxing Day. He won his aerial battles which is something Spurs missed dearly against Villa on the weekend.

Clement Lenglet- 5

I’d say he was Tottenham’s worst performer on the night. He constantly got skinned all night long seeming very flat footed. Needs to improve his 1v1 defending massively.

Ivan Perisic – 7

Once again the Croatian provided the quality needed in the final third tonight. He set up Tottenham’s opener, beating his man to the by-line and lofting a beautiful cross for Kane to head home.

Oliver Skipp- 5

A tough night for Skippy, he seemed very off the pace. Struggling to handle the quick-footed Palace players, making a number of clumsy challenges. When he did get on the ball, he couldn’t really impact the game. Improvements needed from the youngster.

Bryan Gil- 7

Tireless running yet again from the Spaniard. But the difference tonight was that he provided that quality needed to get Spurs the win. His smart pass in behind the Palace defence set up Kane for his 2nd. I don’t think I’m the only Spurs fan to be over the moon for Gil tonight.

Heung Min Son- 7

Finally… Son is on the scoresheet. Despite being absent for most of the game, the South-Korean bagged his much needed goal, latching onto a long hall from Kane and seeing his deflected effort find the back of the net.

Harry Kane- 9

When you have a striker like Kane in your team, no matter how you are playing, you will always stand a chance. Kane proved that today with two emphatic goals just after half-time. His second was a typical Kane finish drilling the ball across the goal into the bottom corner. Exceptional stuff from the England skipper.

Subs:

Pape Matar Sarr- 6

Ryan Sessegnon- 5

Emerson Royal- 5

Harvey White- 5

Ben Davies- 5
