People Moan About White Hart Lane – At Least It’s Our Money

|

The decision to gift West Ham United the former Olympic Stadium on the deal struck, continues to defy belief and brings the IQ of some seriously into question.

I’m sure I don’t need to overly list the previous reveals that have come out in the media in terms of how shoddy a deal this has turned out to be for the average taxpayer, and in fairness, I’m not sure anyone is actually surprised as when you get into the world of politics and Councils, deals are about quick headlines to look good and nobody actually bothers to think of the bigger picture – or at least that’s how it appears.

The BBC reported late yesterday afternoon that the Stadium owners had now spent an additional £4million on legal fees given ongoing disputes with the club.

The sum spans the last three years – until the end of this year – for London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) and chief executive Gerry Murphy confirmed the figures at a London Assembly meeting and responses such as ‘extraordinary’ are probably too soft.

Not only are the LLDC losing money each game, with the way the costs spiralled to convert it to a football stadium in the first place, no-one comes out of this with any credit.

But Spurs are obviously the only club worth talking about when it comes to stadium issues.
