Penalties, A Red Card & Spurs Battle To Their First Draw Of The Year – Match Stats

|

Following back to back disappointments against Burnley and Chelsea in the last week, Tottenham Hotspur were looking to get back to winning ways today in the London derby clash against Arsenal.

Welcoming the Gunners to Wembley Stadium for today’s early Premier League kickoff, unfortunately, our recent struggles continued as the visitors took the lead 16 minutes into the first half. With most fans looking at how long it took us to create our first real chance, Harry Kane did have the ball in the back of the net, but saw us ruled out for offside.

Kane did get a second opportunity from the penalty spot late on in the second half after he was bundled over by Shkodran Mustafi – albeit with more than a hint of offside – and he made no mistake with 16 minutes remaining in the game.

Spurs were more dominating, but Arsenal continued to carry a threat and late on we conceded a penalty but goalkeeper Hugo Lloris left fans thanking him as he saved Patrick Aubameyang’s effort from 12 yards.

Stoppage-time saw Arsenal reduced to ten men after the referee brandished a red card and that’s where it finished – our first draw of the campaign!
