Opinion: Tottenham youngster is learning nothing and Pochettino needs to take action

|

Jack Clarke is a man who will undoubtedly be a pub quiz answer for years to come, and one that Tottenham fans should all get. After 518 days of waiting, Clarke became the first player Tottenham signed in the 2019 summer window, breaking their self-imposed-two window transfer ban.

However, just as quickly as Clarke was signed, he was let go again, back on-loan to Leeds United to continue his development under Marcelo Bielsa in the Championship where game time comes thick and fast and rotation is a must, however, that hasn’t worked out.

Instead, the £10m man, fee via BBC, has fallen into obscurity. With Leeds having six loanees in their squad and EFL rulings only allowing five loanees in a single matchday squad, Clarke has been the man who has had to bite the bullet and sit out, meaning he’s yet to play a single minute in the Championship.

It’s not at all an ideal situation, and now it’s high time that Mauricio Pochettino brings his youngster backs to the club and either starts chancing him in the club’s U23’s and U18 sides or sends him back out on-loan to another club, and Football Insider have claimed just that.

Freezing out Clarke is hardly going to go down well with Pochettino and co, and it’s yet another headache for the Argentine manager that he just doesn’t need. The issues at Tottenham are far from easy to deal with, yet here we are with more problems emerging.

The easy option is to get to January, bring Clarke back and let him go out to yet another club in loan, be it a Premier League or a Championship club, although for now, it will be up to the youngster himself to get through the next few months t January where he will hopefully then be set to play football more regularly.
