Opinion: Tottenham should sign £51k-per-week AC Milan man

|

Tottenham may need to sign a new forward this summer, as Christian Eriksen wants a new challenge while Erik Lamela has struggled for playing time due to injuries. A player with Premier League experience, a prolific goal tally and international pedigree would be ideal, which is why Spurs should consider returning for Suso.

The £51k-per-week AC Milan wide-man impressed in Serie A last season, contributing 17 goals in 35 games. He created 98 chances, made 66 successful dribbles (67%), averaged 43 passes-per-game with 83% accuracy, hit the target with 42% of his 95 shots and whipped in 229 crosses with 24% accuracy. Calciomercato say Spurs are interested, but they’re yet to make an approach.

Suso is believed to have a £35m release clause that Spurs should consider triggering to bring him back to England. The 25-year-old made 21 appearances for Liverpool between 2012 and 2015, but he’s a much more accomplished player these days. Suso’s form in Italy (58 goals/assists in 136 games) has led to him representing the Spanish national team on five occasions, but he may have to leave the Rossoneri for the sake of his career.

AC Milan haven’t finished in the top-four of Serie A since 2012/13 and haven’t made it past the last-16 of the Europa League. If Suso joined Spurs, he’d be playing for a top-four Premier League club who were Champions League finalists in June.
