Christian Eriksen could be leaving Tottenham this summer after admitting that he’s keen for a new challenge. The 27-year-old is out of contract in 2020 and could leave on a free transfer next year unless Spurs sell him his summer. Ironically, Tottenham could sign his replacement from the same club Eriksen has been so heavily linked with – Martin Ødegaard from Real Madrid.

The 20-year-old joined Los Blancos from Strømsgodset in 2015 and has gone on to make just two appearances in all competitions. Ødegaard’s lack of playing time at Real led to him being loaned out to Heerenveen (January 9, 2017 – June 30, 2018) and Vitesse Arnhem (August 21, 2018 – June 30, 2019).

The Norwegian international impressed at Vitesse, scoring and creating 23 goals in 39 games last season, and could improve the Tottenham squad if the Lilywhites are willing to pay. According to De Telegraaf (h/t TalkSPORT), Ødegaard has a £17m asking price and £80k-per-week salary demands. He’s been linked with a move to Ajax, but Spurs should hijack the deal.

In the Eredivisie last season, the attacking-midfielder created 122 chances, made 101 successful dribbles (63%), averaged 40 passes-per-game with 80% accuracy, whipped in 229 crosses with 33% accuracy and hit the target with 40% of his 85 shots. Ødegaard would be a gamble, but he does have quality and may jump at the chance to join a top-four Premier League club.
