Opinion: Tottenham have big problem with 29-year-old

|

Danny Rose made it clear that he won’t leave Tottenham before the end of his contract in 2021, but would the 29-year-old change his mind if he falls down the pecking order?

Rose is Spurs’ first-choice left-back, having made 11 appearances in all competitions this season, but Ben Davies & Ryan Sessegnon will soon edge him out of the side which could leave him on the periphery.

The England international could spend his final season at Spurs out of the matchday squad and stagnating as a result. It’s hard to see Rose settling for that so late in his career, so he might change his mind on a move next summer.

In August, the left-back was at Watford’s training ground ahead of a permanent move, but the deal fell through because Tottenham requested more money. Rose may be punishing the club for toying with his career, but it’s unlikely that he’ll win this battle.

Will Rose leave Tottenham next summer?

Yes

No

He’ll turn 30 in July and may only have one more contract left to sign with a club before hanging up his boots, so spending 2020/21 out in the cold wouldn’t be a smart move.
