Opinion: Tottenham fan favourite is giving supporters hope of massive January coup

|

Tottenham supporters, much like football supporters all over the world, absolutely love a good piece of transfer gossip and will cling onto every little piece of information they can get, and it looks like one current Lilywhite is fuelling the fire for the fans on one massive rumour.

The idea of Paulo Dybala swapping the famous black and white of Juventus for the Lilywhite shirt of Tottenham Hotspur is a ludicrous thought, that only the most talented football manager fans amongst the Tottenham supporters will have ever thought they would see.

However, that almost changed over the summer when Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy very nearly defied the odds to bring their 2018 Champions League pantomime villain into their squad, yet it all fell apart at the last minute owing to complex problems surrounding Dybala’s image rights.

Now, though, when January comes around Levy, Poch and Dybala all know what needs to be done for this to go through, and if it gets revisited then there is no excuses as to why it shouldn’t go ahead, and one man happens to be doing his utmost to keep the Tottenham fans believing in this one.

That man is the one and only Erik Lamela. The Argentine is sharing a dressing room with the Juventus man during international duty, and Dybala is a common guest on the Spurs man’s social media accounts, as has been pointed out by Daily Hotspur on Twitter.

We’re not expecting to see Dybala drop everything and sign for Spurs purely because of his international mate Lamela, but having the ex-Roma man in Dybala’s ear and selling the club is certainly not a bad thing, and if this one sticks around long enough until something can be made of it in January then it will be a very exciting transfer window for Pochettino and co.
