Tottenham have been linked with a move for Max Aarons this season, but they’ve been dealt a blow in their pursuit for the defender with the Telegraph revealing he’s set to sign a new deal at Norwich City. The 19-year-old has been a standout performer for the Canaries, scoring and creating eight goals in 40 Championship appearances.
Aarons has made 30 chances, 55 successful dribbles (60%), averaged 45 passes-per-game with 81% accuracy, has whipped in 77 crosses with 13% accuracy, has made 64 clearances, blocked 12 shots and 19 crosses and has averaged a tackle (64) or interception (45) every 33 minutes.
The England u19 international has a £15m asking price which wouldn’t break the bank, but it doesn’t appear that Spurs will get their man this summer. Mauricio Pochettino has been eyeing a potential replacement for Kieran Tripper and Serge Aurier, but Aarons could stay at Carrow Road for another year.
The right-back has four years remaining on his current deal with City, having signed an extension back in October 2018, but his long-term future is uncertain given his rise to prominence and the clubs being credited with an interest. Spurs may not get their man this summer, however.
