Opinion: Tottenham could find themselves in catastrophic situation come August 8th

|

This summer window started really well at Tottenham. The Lilywhites managed to get two deals done as they announced both Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke on the same day, yet if it remains that way the fans will be rightfully fuming.

Considering the sale of Kieran Trippier for £20m, the summer spending hasn’t so far been what the Lilywhites thought they’d be in for, and with recent talk making deals for Giovani Lo Celso, Ryan Sessegnon and Paulo Dybala look some way away, it’s not all good news.

According to West London Sport, Fulham manager Scott Parker ‘fully expects’ Ryan Sessegnon to stay at Craven Cottage. Then there’s Football-Italia claiming Paulo Dybala wants to stay at Juventus this summer whilst finally, Diario de Seville have claimed Spurs are unwilling to pay more than 50m euros for Giovani Lo Celso.

It’s not adding up the way that Tottenham fans will have wanted it to, and the way things are looking, Mauricio Pochettino could be set to go into the new season with only the impressive Tanguy Ndombele in his side who wasn’t last season, seeing as Jack Clarke has been loaned back out.

As good as Ndombele is, he himself has come in to replace Mousa Dembele who left for China back in January, and this really will not make positive reading for Tottenham fans as we go into the last 11 days of the transfer window for Premier League clubs.

It’s true that anything can happen in the weird and wonderful world of football, especially at this time of year, but the way things are looking, Daniel Levy is in for some sleepless nights and busy days as we approach the start of the season.
