Opinion: Spurs could pay £30m & £2m wage for player with broken relationship, club strapped

|

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are keen on Franck Kessie and could make a move for the AC Milan midfielder this summer. Sport Witness believe the 22-year-old’s future at the San Siro has been impacted by an incident with teammate Lucas Biglia and the club’s a lack of funds, all of which could lead to Kessie being sold in the coming months.

Tottenham are in the market for a central midfielder who provides a physical presence and combative qualities. Kessie certainly is that player, but he won’t be cheap to sign given he has three more years on his contract. The Ivorian international has a market value of £30m and currently earns £1.9m-a-year/£36k-per-week.

West Ham could be a stumbling block in negotiations, however, as they’re credited with an interest and could lodge a bid when the season comes to a close. Whether Kessie would pick the Hammers over Spurs remains to be seen, however. The midfielder has made 87 appearances in all competitions for Milan and will make his current loan move permanent with the Rossoneri this summer. He could be sold on not long after signing.
