Tottenham fans all know that the Giovani Lo Celso transfer, much like any other deal at this stage, will be going right down to the wire. Especially seeing as we are now into the final 24 hours of the English transfer window.
The Lilywhites have been given plenty of good news since yesterday as they continue to chase down a number of signings and talks roll on with plenty of top talents. However, one that is still here is Lo Celso, and Tottenham fans finally have some good news to feast their eyes upon.
According to El Transistor on Twitter, Real Betis are looking to accelerate the transfer of Lo Celso to Tottenham, as if this one fails to go through and the Argentine doesn’t leave for Spurs before tomorrow’s deadline then the player won’t be sold and the club will have no money to reinvest.
It seems that with Tottenham looking at other options, it may have just forced the La Liga club’s hand into letting Tottenham have a bargain. The 23-year-old will almost certainly do well at Spurs too, so this could be a touch of class from Daniel Levy.
His stats last season are all you have to look at to believe that, as in his 46 games for Real Betis in all competitions the South American international ended the campaign with a stunning 16 goals and six assists, including a combined six goals and assists in the Europa League as Betis reached the last 32, Transfermarkt.
Of course, from here both Tottenham and Real Betis could find themselves no further forward and a deal may not be reached. At the moment, though, that seems like it would be a much bigger problem for Real Betis than it would for Spurs, though, as the Lilywhites have other options.
It feels like Spurs are finally in the driver’s seat for this deal, and with Levy and Mauricio Pochettino looking free to either bring him in on their terms and for a more reasonable fee, it looks like the fans are going to be given the window they wanted as opposed to another frustrating crash and burn like the previous two.
