Opinion: Pochettino must act on signing maestro keen on Tottenham move

|

Sky Sports ran with a story on Wednesday morning claiming that Giovani Lo Celso is keen on joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

And we feel Mauricio Pochettino must look to act on that alleged desire to join us and ensure they strike a deal with Real Betis for their midfield maestro.

Lo Celso has been in exceptional form for the La Liga outfit over the past 12 months and has really made a name for himself in Spain after a difficult time at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Argentine was hugely influential in the middle of the park for the Sevilla-based club, as he managed to pull the strings and provide them with a goal threat going forward.

The 23-year-old managed to net 16 goals and contribute a further six assists in his 46 matches across all competitions last season (Transfermarkt); figures that we could make do with moving forward.

We have had to heavily rely on Christian Eriksen to come up with all the magic, but there are times when he is completely frozen out of the game which leaves us lacking the imagination and creativity to overcome our opponents.

Despite not being the finished article, that should only make the reason to sign him all-the-more clearer as Pochettino could be able to work his magic with Lo Celso and turn him into an even better prospect in the future.

The South American is not just a player who could help us out in the final third of the pitch either, as he can provide the defence with support as his versatility allows him to play in a deeper role and could easily sit alongside the likes of Harry Winks or Eric Dier.

All-in-all, Lo Celso has the potential to be a player who can go on to achieve great things in the future with the right guidance.

That is why we think Pochettino and Tottenham must act on his desire to make the move to north London this summer.
