Opinion: Mourinho abolishing strict Pochettino policy can be a positive for Tottenham

|

Tottenham fans have long been left in awe of Mauricio Pochettino and his methods at their club. The Lilywhites have been transformed by the Argentine over the last five and a half years, yet now it looks like things are going to be done very differently under Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager is obviously one who has a very different style, approach and mindset to his predecessor, and now the supporters will be keen to see what changes now that the former Manchester United and Chelsea man has taken up the reigns at the club.

One change that looks to be set to implemented by Jose is going to concern the dealing of youth players. A lot of Tottenham fans will have had instant worries for the likes of Troy Parrott, Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga, who are young stars on the brink of the first team.

The history between Mourinho and young players isn’t exactly a glowing one. A lot of fans have made the point that Mourinho very rarely progresses some of the younger talents he’s worked with, however, his recent comments look to have addressed that.

The Portuguese gaffer has claimed that whilst Parrott won’t be going anywhere, having made his Premier League debut against Burnley on the weekend, although players like Skipp and Tanganga could be set to leave the club on a temporary basis to get some first-team football under their belts (comments via Dan Kilpatrick).

Does Parrott Deserve A New Deal Now?

Absolutely Yes

No, Not Just Yet

This is certainly a change in the way that Pochettino did things, yet the Lilywhites should embrace the idea of allowing some of their bright young talents to shine out on-loan, although keeping Parrott at the club will also go down well, given how highly regarded the Irishman is amongst the fans.
