Opinion: Mauricio Pochettino should start Tottenham forward against Leicester City

|

Mauricio Pochettino rested Heung-min Son against Olympiacos in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw but could start him at Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

As per Transfermarkt, the 27-year-old contributed 30 goals in all competitions last season and has picked up where he left off for Tottenham in 2019/20 – two goals in three Premier League games.

Pochettino can’t be without Son and even allowed the South Korean international somewhat of a rest in midweek to ensure he’d be fully fit for the weekend. Harry Kane led the line against Olympiacos but is likely to be partnered for their East Midlands trip.

Tottenham are currently third in the Premier League with eight points from five games, having won just one of their last four. Spurs are already seven points adrift of top-spot and could fall out of the top-four if they fail to win on Saturday.

As a result, the Lilywhites can’t afford any more slip-ups. But Leicester won’t be slouches either. Pochettino’s men face an in-form City side boasting two wins from their last three and four points from a possible six on home soil.

Spurs are winless on the road this season and are coming off the back of a miserable Champions League performance in midweek.
