Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the world and Troy Parrott is an incredibly promising youngster who could go on to become anything, so keeping the pair together, with young Parrott learning from Kane looks and feels like the most sensible move.
Mauricio Pochettino will know that, and he will likely be quick to shut down any talk of the young Irish striker leaving the club on-loan this summer. For now, though, the rumours are there, as Charlton Athletic have been linked with taking Parrott for the season.
It’s The Independent who have delivered this rumour, and the fans will be desperate to see it go away as quickly as it came about, as the impressive young academy man is one who they’ll all be keen to stay at the club as the heir to Kane’s thrown and the #2 option in North London.
The youngster has shone in pre-season for the Lilywhites, and whilst it was gutting to see the teenager end the off-season without a goal to his name, he can hold his head high with some of his performances, especially his debut in the senior side against Juventus.
Parrott played a vital role in the opener against the Italian champions and was extremely unlucky not to find the net when he hit the woodwork against Real Madrid in the Lilywhites Audi Cup semi-final clash in Munich.
It’s not all about goals, though, and Pochettino is well known to think extremely highly of the young striker, so keeping him at the club, with the first team and around Kane will be absolutely key as far as Poch is concerned.
The minutes are going to be there for Parrott too. The domestic cups will provide him with a chance to show what can do and if he’s proven that he can shine against some of the best in Europe in pre-season then there really is little reason as to why he can’t do it against lower league sides on a Tuesday in the Carabao Cup.
