Opinion: Latest report shows £75k-per-week Tottenham man has a big problem

Christian Eriksen is expected to leave Tottenham this summer after admitting in a recent interview that he was open to a new challenge next season. The 27-year-old may have a problem when it comes to finding the ideal suitor, however, is there aren’t many clubs that he’d want to join who are willing to pay his £130m transfer fee.

According to Joshua Jones of The Sun, Eriksen’s team have already said ‘no’ to the prospect of joining Manchester United and would prefer a team in Spain – that leaves Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid as potential destinations. Real are the club the £75k-per-week Tottenham man wants to join, but Los Blancos have already spent a lot of money on new recruits.

Transfermarkt say Real have brought in six players for a combined total of £272.7m – Eden Hazard (Chelsea), Luka Jovic (Eintracht Frankfurt), Eder Militao (FC Porto), Ferland Mendy (Olympique Lyonnais), Rodrygo (Santos). It’s hard to see them taking their summer spend to £400m by bringing in Eriksen unless they offload Isco – something that hasn’t happened yet – so the Danish international might struggle to get his dream move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
