Opinion: Firing for his country should do wantaway Tottenham man a world of good

|

Tottenham fans should be very grateful at the timing of the international break. The Lilywhites have got plenty of issues with their current squad be it with injuries, contractual stalemates with players and those who are lacking match fitness as the games start coming thick and fast.

One of those players who has left North London to fulfil his international duties is Christian Eriksen and after the Danish midfielder has ended the summer as a Tottenham player, much to his own frustrations, getting away from the club for a week looks like a brilliant thing right now.

Getting away from the club is one thing, but performing for his country looks to be an added for bonus and fortunately for Tottenham fans, Christian Eriksen always seem to perform when he’s away with his national team.

This time around has been no different either, as the 27-year-old bagged himself two goals, both from the penalty spot, and an assist for his country in a 6-0 away win in Gibraltar. That will hopefully do him a world of good, especially after his recent comments after failing to leave Tottenham.

Eriksen claimed that he wished deciding his future in real life was as easy as it was in Football Manager, as per Sky Sports, and that’s off the back of a long summer of speculation that started back in June when he claimed, talking to Ekstra Bladet, that he was ready to try something new.

However, after failing to get that new challenge in front of him, the chance is now there for the Dane to impress for Tottenham and move on next summer, and getting away from North London to get his head right seems to have come at an extremely useful time.
