Opinion: Europa League hero would make a brilliant addition at Tottenham

|

Until Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side can start getting a run of wins together the talk of a crisis in North London will not die down. However, with a few signings and giving Poch more time will undoubtedly work out, it’s just about biding their time and getting through the rough patch.

January should be big for the club this season, and if Poch can be allowed to bring in some of his own signings and introduce them into the side to replace the likes of Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweield, who will be on their way out, could prove to be the turning point.

The situation at the back for the Lilywhites is a strange one, Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen – a pair that have been one of the best in both the Premier League and the world over the last few years – are starting to look off the pace, and with both of their contracts expiring next summer, changes are needed.

We know that Juan Foyth and Davinson Sanchez look like they could be the future of the Lilywhites’ defence for years to come, but with Foyth potentially readying himself for a career as a right-back for both club and country, bringing in a new defender could be key.

That’s where these links come in, as Daniel Levy could be set to flex the club’s financial muscle and make a move for Premier League and Europa League star Willy Bolt. Wolves young French centre-back who has quietly been going about his business as one of the league’s most underrated defenders.

The links have come from Football Insider, via The Birmingham Mail, and with the six-foot-five-inch tall defender a massive favourite at Molineux, there’s no reason why he can’t be the same at Spurs. He’s already scored a late winner in Europe for Wolves this season, and his stats are phenomenal.

Looking at WhoScored, Boly’s averaged 4.7 successful aerial duels, 2.8 tackles, 2 interceptions and 6.3 clearances per game, which would almost certainly make him a good option at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, despite some fans not wanting to see him snapped up.
