We will be without Eric Dier tonight due to illness, and with Harry Winks ruled out with his troublesome ankle, and Mousa Dembele unlikely to recover due to his own ankle injury, there is a possibility of Moussa Sissoko starting against Newcastle.
The prospect of the Frenchman possibly making an appearance against his former club has not filled fans with confidence:
On Twitter, supporters are hoping Mauricio Pochettino goes with another option:

no, Wanyama and Eriksen to start. Son, Alli and Lamela(Moura) behind Kane

Play Eriksen deep with Victor, and play Moura. Must win

Surely he would drop Alli or Eriksen to CM and play Lucas? Pace and width?

Might be good as fringe players have something to prove at least they will br trying COYS

Wanyama, Eriksen; Lucas, Dele, Son; Kane – anything else would be madness (and I've not been impressed by Lucas so far)
— James Maw (@JamesMawFFT) May 8, 2018
so our midfield could be Sissoko and Lamela. If it wasn't so sad it would be funny

Friends don’t let friends say Sissoko should start

Roll on the Europa League then unless he has one of his "for the cameras" games and turns up.

Verdict:
It’s very likely that Poch will choose to play Christian Eriksen deeper alongside Victor Wanyama like he did against West Brom. However, that would also likely see the team keeping with three at the back, which didn’t work so well against the Baggies.
Pace, width and energy, attributes which were lacking last time out at the Hawthorns, will be vital against a Magpies team that will set up to frustrate. It could be a nervy night this evening if we don’t start with the right intensity. Hopefully, we get off to a flyer with an early goal.
