The Football Association have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game between Newport County and Tottenham Hotspur this Saturday.

Newport County host Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday January 27 for the FA Cup fourth Round tie at Rodney Parade and the match carries a 5.30pm kick off.

Referee: Roger East
Assistant Refs: Gary Beswick and Harry Lennard
Fourth Official: Oliver Langford

Match Day referee East has officiated 18 games in 2017/18, showing 62 yellow cards and two red cards.

He took in 33 games in 2016/17 with a return of 140 yellow cards and five red cards.

His highest card that year was eight yellow cards which he showed in matches between Oxford v Millwall, MK Dons v Northampton and Brighton v Ipswich Town.

He took charge of 39 matches in 2015/16 and in those games, across all competitions and football divisions, he handed out a total of 119 yellow cards and two red cards.

He was most card happy in the match between Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday in May with a total of eight yellows being shown.

Let`s hope it`s not another repeat and more of the players edge closer to automatic bans.

  • On reflection …. we don’t have another game for a week so there’s no need to take any chances. When the game is won, use the bench.

  • As my score prediction for the Saints match was deemed too offensive and was edited out and, was so far wrong anyway… I’m going to go for a restrained and conservative, boringly boring 0-0 in this one. I do hope this is okay.

Geof, as a reminder: We play Man U at Wembley on Wednesday. That of course will definitely be a big Spurs win!

  • HT … I’ve pre-recorded the United game but totally forgot when it was on. Thanks for the reminder. It kind of alters my second post, doesn’t it.

  • #THFC: Vorm, Trippier, Foyth, Vertonghen, Walker-Peters, Dier, Wanyama, Sissoko, Dembele, Llorente, Kane (C). #COYS

  • here we go again. do we have any muscle in our squad. What were these players expecting, a walk in the park. 45 minutes to actually show we have some pride!!!

  • A good job that MP doesn’t priorities the Cup … pathetic from this team absolute joke of a performance

  • Only one Harry kane, is he off to Spain, away from the English rain adding to spurs more pain, but levy will love the money he wud gain, us fans says he’s insane, enic says it’s only a game, what a shame, we no who to blame. Pls come back kane

  • I would challenge anyone to defend that pile of crap … a lucky flick and thankfully Kane scored and saves us yet again … how sissoko gets game time is beyond me … llorente showed he’s not good enough for us … trippier pathetic and needs to be sold … KWP, he’s not a LB .. he’s right footed .. Foyth.. looks a talent … wanyama… thought this was beneath him …. only when Alli, and son came on did it look like, we might scrape a draw … pathetic overall performance.
