Official: Tottenham midfielder suffers fresh injury blow

|

Tottenham confirm that Ryan Sessegnon has suffered a fresh blow after ‘reporting irritation with his previous hamstring injury’. The 19-year-old looked to be making a full recovery after recently returning to training, but he’ll now be back on the sidelines until his hamstring problem subsides.

Sessegnon will be absent for Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Olympiacos and may not face Leicester City on Saturday afternoon either. Since joining from Fulham in August, the England u21 international hasn’t played a single minute of football for Tottenham.

As per Transfermarkt, Danny Rose and Ben Davies have been left to battle for a place at left-back while Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela can be used as makeshift wide-men. Sessegnon is a player for the future, but Mauricio Pochettino must be frustrated to not have him available.

The Spurs boss wanted to rotate his squad for Europe this season, so Sessegnon may have been one of the players to benefit – Danny Rose hasn’t travelled with the squad. Unfortunately Tottenham’s injury update doesn’t state when the teenager could return either, so fans will have to play the waiting game once more.
