Official: Tottenham midfielder could miss Manchester City clash, bad news for Pochettino

|

Tottenham confirmed on Thursday that Moussa Sissoko is an injury doubt ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Manchester City. The 29-year-old was forced off early against City in Wednesday’s Champions League clash due to a groin problem and it threatens to sideline him over the weekend too. He will be assessed before a final decision is made, but Mauricio Pochettino won’t want to rush him back as the games are coming thick and fast later in April.

Sissoko has been a regular for Spurs this season, making 39 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating four goals. It would be bad news for Mauricio Pochettino if the French international missed out on Saturday. Sissoko has made 27 Premier League appearances, created 23 chances, made 21 clearances, averaged 46 passes with 86% accuracy, won 23 aerial duels (54%) and has averaged a tackle (35) or interception (15) every 43 minutes.

Tottenham are currently third in the league table with 67 points from 33 games, coming off the back of consecutive wins over Crystal Palace (2-0) and Huddersfield Town (4-0). If Spurs fall short to City and Chelsea beat Burnley on Monday, Pochettino’s men will drop out of the top-four. And with City boasting nine consecutive league wins and 16 victories from 17 at home, Saturday will be a tough outing.
