Official: Hugo Lloris injury update

|

Tottenham have given an injury update on Hugo Lloris ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Crvena Zvezda, revealing the goalkeeper is being monitored by the medical staff and has begun rehabilitation after injuring his arm.

Lloris dislocated his elbow in Spurs’ 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion (October 5) and was replaced by Paulo Gazzaniga after eight minutes. The 32-year-old has been ruled out for the remainder of the year, but his 2020 return date is unknown.

Lloris has made nine appearances in all competition this season, conceding 17 goals and keeping only one clean sheet. His absence will be a blow for Tottenham, but the Lilywhites have brought in cover to offset the loss – Michel Vorm re-joined on a short-term deal.

Gazzaniga and Brandon Austin appear to be first and second-choice under Mauricio Pochettino. The former has made four appearances across the board, shipping five goals and shutting out just one side. He’s spent the campaign as an unused substitute but has a real opportunity to prove his worth.

Lloris conceded nine goals in two Champions League group games, but Gazzaniga will hope he’s not kept too busy against Crvena Zvezda.
