Ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture with Watford, Tottenham Hotspur had a fresh name on the transfer rumour mill as it was being suggested we were tracking Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria with an eye to the January window reopening.
The original reports of our interest seem to come from German outlet Sport Bild, although in light of manager Mauricio Pochettino’s comments about not being particularly active in the New Year (as things stand) plenty will naturally doubt the speculation.
In any event, 22-year-old Zakaria is a defensive minded midfielder and it’s said his performances in the Bundesliga have put him on the radar of our scouts and we’ve been taking an active interest in the Switzerland international of late.
Reacting to the speculation on social media, it certainly seems that some Spurs fans who are more aware of the player believe that he would be a very good addition to our ranks.
Very good player and a massive upgrade on Dier and Wanyama, would be a class signing????

NICE! YES! We need a DM, and proper fullbacks and maybe a CB.

Now we're talking. A proper DM who can also get forward. Dier has two months to prove he deserves to be at Spurs longterm. Needs to move those feet forward and stop with the giveaways.
