One item that didn’t quite make the Nine O`Clock News was last week’s fake report regarding Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg supposedly buying Tottenham Hotspur.

Reports suggested the American was considering a £1 billion bid but in the end the club were forced to make a public statement.

‘The Board is not in any discussions relating to a takeover offer for the club.’

That’s that then – moving on!

In the late 1970’s ‘Not The Nine O’Clock’ News was a show on the BBC that just about everyone in their teens and 20’s were watching. The programme makers satire was similar to what a lot of media outlets, including certain blogs are doing today IE spouting out fake news. I guess in the last 40 years some circulating stories remain the same, it’s just that at least, back in the day the material was funny and partly believable.

Have we learned nothing?
