News: Tottenham should have expected to lose after this display

|

Tottenham Hotspur were humiliated and embarrassed by a far superior team in the Champions League but should we have expected Tottenham to lose after their youth team was hammered earlier in the day.

Spurs were demolished by a clinical Bayern Munich side who displayed world-class quality and preceded to rip through Tottenham’s frail defence and midfield, and it seems the senior team were just following how the youth team performed.

Tottenham’s U19’s were beaten 4-1 by their German counterparts and some Spurs fans had joked that this was foreshadowing.

However, I doubt even the most pessimistic Tottenham fan could have predicted a 7-2 defeat at home.

Tottenham got to the Champions League final last season, but on this evidence, they will be lucky to make it out of Group B.

It seems their youth team won’t fare much better either as, even though Troy Parrott played, Bayern outclassed Tottenham’s young guns.

The same then happened to the senior team.

I’m not sure where Spurs go from here but that 2-1 win over Southampton at the weekend feels a long time ago and this game will take some time to get over.

The youth team are struggling as badly as the senior team having drawn with Olympiakos, and against Bayern, they were thrashed.

It is a shame that the senior team decided to follow the example set by the youth side and capitulated in humiliating fashion.
