News: Tottenham looking to sign three English stars

|

Tottenham Hotspur are supposedly keeping close tabs on the progress of James Maddison, Demarai Gray, and Harvey Barnes.

The Leicester City trio are all players that Mauricio Pochettino rates highly, and he is keen to add them to his squad either in January or next summer.

All three are young and English and are establishing themselves as quality Premier League footballers.

Maddison, who joined from Norwich City for £20m, has scored seven goals and provided nine assists as well as creating 15 big chances in only 41 games.

His talent is now under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers, and it is hard to see how the former Coventry man won’t make it to the top sooner rather than later.

Barnes was initially sent out on loan to West Bromwich Albion last season where he scored an impressive nine goals and was instrumental in the Baggies’ rise up the table.

In January he was recalled and made 16 appearances for the Foxes and this season he scored a cracking winner at Bramall Lane that was deservedly named Goal of the Month.

At only 21, Barnes looks to be another player with a big future ahead.

Gray, on the other hand, was signed in 2016 from Birmingham City and has not quite lived up to the hype but he is clearly a good footballer with searing pace and excellent dribbling – if he only he could add more end product to his game he could become a lethal Premier League winger.

These players are prime Pochettino targets – young footballers who with time and guidance could become excellent.

Pochettino loves to nurture players and make them better, so do not be surprised to see at least one of these at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next year.
