News: Tottenham international star speaks on the difficulties facing Tottenham

|

Christian Eriksen has described the current situation as the hardest time he has had at Tottenham since he joined.

The Dane, who has made his intentions of leaving N17 clear, has also claimed that Tottenham’s poor form has nothing to do with the transfer rumours floating around the club.

This is because three of Spurs’ key players Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen all have their contracts expiring in 2020 and at the moment all will leave for free next summer.

There are also several other players in the team who Mauricio Pochettino wants to move on.

Eriksen, though, is adamant that these rumours have had no bearing on Spurs’ difficult start.

I struggle to believe this because Eriksen has made it clear that he wants to go to Spain, and this season, he has done nothing and has actually looked like he has given up on Spurs.

He cannot be giving his all to Tottenham if he has his heart set on a move elsewhere.

Vertonghen and Alderweireld were once considered two of the best centre-backs in the world, but they have struggled this season, and I think it is because they are distracted by their contract situations.

Footballers are humans; they are not robots and, therefore, off the field situations affect their performance.

Certainly, these three have not performed to their best all season, and Eriksen cannot seriously believe that off the field matters have not affected their displays.
