News: Tottenham eye Lyon man as Ligue 1 supremo’s future becomes increasingly unclear

|

Tottenham fans have long wanted to see some of the power that Daniel Levy has at the club divvied out to some other high-ranking members of staff, and when it comes to the transfer front, having a proper Director of Football would go down very well with the supporters at White Hart Lane.

Football.London recently ran a report that named the five people that are involved in any transfers that might be done for the Lilywhites this summer, although by the time the summer does come around, there could well be another man to factor into that decision-making process in the form of Florian Maurice.

Maurice currently works for Olympique Lyonnais in Ligue 1, although this season has been nothing short of a massive disappointment for the French side as they sit 16 points off of an automatic Champions League spot and 10 off of 3rd, which promises a spot in the Champions League qualifiers.

The rumours of Spurs’ interest in Maurice (courtesy of L’Equipe) also claim that the Lyon man is at risk of being moved on seeing as the club recently brought in Juninho Pernambucano as a Sporting Director, directly threatening Maurice in his role as the club’s Head of Scouting (Transfermarkt).

However, the Lilywhites aren’t the only club to have offered the 46-year-old former France striker a job and there are supposedly a number of other clubs across Europe who hold a keen interest in recruiting the Lyon man, who has an obvious eye for talent.

Do we need a Director of Football?

Yes

No

The Lilywhites would likely be keen to see a shakeup in the way things are done at their club, especially now there’s a new regime in place under the management of Jose Mourinho and his young, fresh-faced assistant Joao Sacramento, who was also brought in from a Ligue 1 club (The Telegraph).
