With each passing day, Tottenham Hotspur fans are getting even more anxious and tense with regards to a possible deal for Tanguy Ndombele this summer.

Olympique de Lyonnais chief, Jean-Michel Aulas, is known to be as tough as our very own Daniel Levy when it comes down to negotiations for his players, so there will not have been too many surprises when considering how difficult a deal would be to try and complete.

However, what has not helped ease the emotions is the fact that there appears to be a different story and update on the situation regarding the 22-year-old powerhouse in what feels like every hour.

Sky Sports had claimed that we had agreed to a £65million deal for Ndombele a matter of days ago, however, Aulas appears to have swept that notion from right under our feet and suggest that nothing has been finalised.

“An offer of 70m euros? If I wait another eight days, it will be 80m euros. Tottenham’s first proposal was 45m euros. Since then we’ve been talking, nothing’s done,” he said, speaking to RMC (via Football.London).

“I can assure you of that. But we’re in no hurry either. It’s not done. Tanguy has shown these qualities in the French team, he is one of our best players. How much is he worth? I don’t know, but it’s worth over 45m.”

However, as appears to be the norm with this transfer saga, Alasdair Gold has revealed an entirely different outlook on the deal and one that many Tottenham fans are pleased to hear.

Writing on Twitter, the reliable journalist said: “Those Aulas comments on Spurs and Tanguy Ndombele have been met with some bewilderment in France. Couple of my contacts over there maintain they’ve been told from the Lyon end a deal is in the final stages between the clubs and that Aulas plays this game regularly in the press.”

And, that has sent fans into a moment of delight as many thanked Gold for his update as some continued to ‘hoping and praying’ that the deal was done, whilst another said it was ‘very encouraging’.

Here are just some of those reactions…

    • Could not agree more. There are to many Spurs fans that believe everything they read online and even though i think we will get Ndombele in the next week or so, the fact that the media just wrote that it was a done deal proves the rubbish reporting the majority of the time, including Gold.

  • Reports are now saying that a price for Ndombele hasn’t even been agreed between the clubs when “other sources” said that it was a “done deal”. Make your bleeding’ minds up!!

  • The media do love to stir up the old melting plot and milk every single aspect of a so called story. In this respect its difficult to gauge exactly where the truth lies in terms of a deal and the expected amount, and it certainly isn’t made any more fluid knowing that Levy and his French equivalent Aulas are involved together in the proceedings. That said however I suspect there is some depth to the advances of Ndombele given that he’s just ben showed around Tottenham’s training facilities by none other than Pochettino in person. I think if this deal failed now there would be a huge amount of disappointment and derision amongst Spurs fans towards the hierarchy at THFC and one can only speculate the damage this would cause the club’s reputation and confidence, this is a deal that simply must be finalised as it may well define the very success of Tottenham’s transfer business this summer and their credibility going forwards.
