For once, a Tottenham player has become ill and it isn’t Eric Dier. This time around, it’s Hugo Lloris who’s suffering, and the Frenchman has been flown back to London from the Lilywhites pre-season tour of Asia as he looks to recover from tonsillitis.

Spurs’ skipper didn’t feature yesterday at all against Juventus, with Paulo Gazzaniga instead playing the entire 90-minute clash as the Lilywhites ran out 3-2 winners in Singapore. Now, though it’s become clear why.
The most important thing for Lloris will be to get fit ahead of the start of the new season. The first game comes against Aston Villa on Saturday, August 10th, and if Lloris is fit then he’ll certainly start in goal.

Must be serious if he’s coming home. Anti-biotics or an op? Need to get it sorted. Either way, get well soon Hugo

Being ill in the Singapore and China heat would be unbearable #COYS— Matt French (@MattyFrench82) July 22, 2019
The Lilywhites will be desperate to get Lloris back to full health as soon as possible as the last thing they want is to be without their captain for the start of the season.
