According to reports, millionaire Levy has just flown to the Bahamas to meet billionaire Joe to discuss transfer kitty. He is due back on Feb 1st.
Hopefully those left in charge will be able to sell ( maybe give away)some of our miserable selection of no hopers.
We have some of the worst players at a given time to wear a Spurs shirt. Today, was a brilliant chance for them to step up and show why they are ( were) internationals. They failed dismally.
No second string, no youngsters. We are in a perilous state.
Time for action. No ifs and buts. We can’t keep on being embarrassed….Mura and now Morecombe. Shocking.

  • Niall D says:

Must agree WW, very poor performance from some of our fringe players.
I kept referring to Rodon needlessly kicking the ball into touch and Lo and behold, that’s how Morecombe got their goal. I fear we have too many passangers within our squad now relying on better players dragging the team performance up.
There are only so many times that we can rely on our strongest 11.
On paper as I’ve said many times, our squad looks decent, and even our starting 11 today looked a match for any team Unfortunately I’m wrong in this, assumption.
N’Dombele sadly is on manager no3 now and has failed to break the glass ceiling, in fact he’s failed to break into a sweat for Spurs, bags of (potential) talent but sadly not on display for us, attitude terrible.
Dele’s body language is back to Mourinho days, he looked slow and at times disinterested in chasing back, it can’t be the manager folks.
I compare some of our players performance to the young Right back for Notts Forest against Arse, now there’s putting a shift in.
We won 3-1 and Arse lost to lesser opposition, yet I don’t feel cock a hoop.
Reason being that we have a decent first team, but little else.
And come the pointy end we’ll (yet again) hit injury and burnout.
We need to get some refreshment into the squad, and be rid of some of the dross and lack lustre players we currently have.
Something is wrong with some player’s attitudes, as we have seen with many the skills and potential is there, it can’t be the coach, as I can’t see the tactics of 3 coaches being wrong, particularly when you consider that two of them have won around 6 premiership titles between them, not forgetting FA cups, CLs, League championships in Europe,Etc.
So some players need to move on for their own sake as well as the clubs.
I’m lost in this one. 🙄😕

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Niall…….Rodon cleared the ball over the goal line because Gollini failed to come out and claim it as he should have done.

  • jod says:

I really don’t think people on this site understand finance at all. We spent £55m on N’Dombele, that’s dead money now. Even if we could find a buyer we’d get only a small percentage back. Its not about spending money, as N’Dombele shows its easy to spend money and get nothing for it. Its about getting value for money since we only have a limited amount of it and can only spend it once. Every time you waste money in the transfer money you reduce how far you can strengthen your squad.

In terms of squad strength the difference between us and Arsenal was we at least had players who could come on and change the game, their changes had zero impact. Liverpool on the other hand could bring in four teenagers and still win comfortably. Which tells you how well the scouting and coaching systems are working at the three clubs.

Despite the stick Dier gets you do notice it when he isn’t there. Sanchez and Rodon have tried playing his position in the last two games and neither was convincing. It might be different if the invisible man, Romero, was available. But as far as I can make out his main job is playing for Argentina, we just pay his wages.

    • wentworth says:

Jod we do understand finance. We have a billionaire owner and a millionaire chairman who control the money and have no knowledge of football. Joe does nothing and Levy interferes with transfers hence the massive mistakes like N’Dombele, Lo Celso, Doherty, Emerson, Jack Clarke, Bryan Gil, Bergweijn to name a few. All disasters and need to be gone. We will lose money of course.
We have also missed out on good players through Levy’s intransigence and bargain hunting. Just look back at some of Levy’s shocking buys.
We will have to give away N’Dombele and Lo Celso…they are passengers and a drain on our wages.
Time to start again and let the experts make the decisions. Keep Levy in the business room. Is he still in the Bahamas?

  • Niall D says:

    Hi TQ
Yep I understand your point, however my issue with Rodon is that he constantly hoofs it out of play during games (needlessly), now in yesterday’s game had it been Salah or the likes bearing down on him then, yeah kick it out, I just feel that he may have even cleared the ball wide.
Whether he was right or not to do it in yesterday’s game, is up for debate, you could be right TQ.
My issue is that he constantly does it, that’s all. He is a bit of a “row Z” defender. 😉
And at 23 should be a bit more” cultured ” or positive with his defensive play.
Just my observation over time watching him play.

  • TK says:

jod is right about one thing: spending money sometimes is just throwing it away. better DL had built a decent school down the block from our Mecca of Spurs football than to have purchased the cointract of N’dombele.

what a waste of talent, and I could be saying that about either N’dombele or DL.

I understand N’dombele wants to become the UK MP in the European parliament. He has the experience to take a nonexistent position. He could pose for an illustration for the Kama Sutra where no penetration is possible.

He’s a non player in a non position as it is now. His recent play is the perfect training for a fictitious position that cannot exist. He can be the next bishop of Mecca. He can be the Homer Simpson who authors a bizarre version of the Odyssey where no voyage takes place.

Who would pay to buy his contract? Write off the 55 million loss to a bad hangover, and we know there are no cures for that.

  • 123spurs says:

Any thoughts on jose roma 3-1 up with 15 minutes against juve and missed a peno to level it, jose called them weak etc. He hasn’t changed a bit if anyone is interested

    • PompeyYid says:

123, I watched the game, have a soft spot for Juve, 1-0, 1-1 HT, 10mins into 2nd Roma 3-1, 17 mins to go, 3 goals in 7mins, 3-4 Juve, 10 mins to go Juve down to 10, De-Lite(I think memory poor) 2nd yellow thus off, Roma pen, hey ho! worst pen I think I have ever seen, Ex Gooner GK, saves but palms the ball back to the pen taker to tap in, haha no! puts the ball wide, loved it.

The best entertainment was, 3 goals against in 7mins, pen missed, the look on Moaninio’s boatrace, classic.

  • jod says:

wentworth – You say you understand finance then with every sentence prove you don’t. You seem to think someone is just going to pump more and more money into the club. There are are only three clubs in the premier league where that happens, City, Chelsea and now Newcastle. Every other club can only spend what they earn. There’s another problem with your logic. “We have a billionaire owner”, wow that’s a big number. City have the revenues of an oil state behind them. Lewis’s fortune hardly counts as petty cash to them. Yet you seem to imagine we can somehow match their spending, a 10 year old could figure out the numbers don’t add up. “Levy interferes with transfers”, you have proof of that ? thought not. Why bother with the facts when you can just make stuff up. Oh and the transfer “experts” aren’t at Spurs, that’s Liverpool’s Moneyball organisation.

    • wentworth says:

Of course Levy interferes with transfers. Everything has to go through him and he has no clue about football.
He did not support Poch and we have missed out on great transfer options because of his miserly attitude. He always looks for the bargain basement buys at the 11th hour of the transfer window . just look at some of the awful purchases he has made.
We are currently left with a hotchpotch of no hopers. You are obviously satisfied with that.
We have no young players either which would give us hope.
Levy has built a great stadium but a football man he is not. We need some decent furniture very soon and a clearout of all Levy’s panic buys.

  • wentworth says:

Who should we keep out of these?
    Doherty?
    Emerson?
    Tanganga?
    N’Dombele?
Lo Celso ?( 1 goal and 3 assists in 54 Prem matches)
Winks?(2 goals and 2 assists in 116 matches)
    Clarke
Gil (0 goals and no assists in 8 Prem matches)
Dele (51 goals 34 assists in 181 appearances)
To be honest, we could lose the lot and they would soon be forgotten except for Dele who was once pretty good under Poch.

  • 123spurs says:

Agree PY and I dread that zonal marking. Where do we go from here if conte one if the best managers in the world is not backed, sometimes you gotta spend money to make money

What’s the difference between spending money to get into the top4 and spending money to stay in the top4, simple answer you will make more money staying in the top4.

  • wentworth says:

Jod. Have you thought of balancing the books. Sell 6 and buy three.
Sell Doherty, Emerson, Lo Celso, N’Dombele, Dele and Bergweijn.
    Buy Lamptey, Kessie and Traore.
Just keep Levy out of it.

  • TK says:

Great joy throughout the world as Mourinho is humiliated. Watch him whine.

As to Spurs–the ship won’t be righted in one January transfer window, but some movement in the right direction is essential.

  • 123spurs says:

  • Niall D says:

Hi folks a few points here, re signings
Didn’t Harry Rednap say that Levey approached him at the 11th hour asking did he want Van der Vart. Now that shows, Harry wasn’t asking for him, but certainly took him.
Re some of the transfers, on paper some looked good enough, I’d argue that Doherty had a decent CV prior to coming to us, but something has went wrong Big Style.
Bergs and N Dombers initially looked like very astute signings, but sadly we were wrong.
Tananga was a great prospect but again something has went wrong.
Even one of our “good” signings Hojberg is now starting to show signs of the Spurs Curse.
If we look at CCV, he’s currently about the best defender in Scotland. 🙄, remember that’s, where Van Dyk came from.
Where I do agree is that we need to sell 5 player to get 3 in, the current issue is who would buy our fringe players on their current form. 🙄

  • wentworth says:

Where is Levy? Still in the Bahamas? Where is he hiding?
We have one of the best managers/coaches in the world and Levy is in hiding when we are desperate for offloading at least six and making SERIOUS attempts to sign three others.
No doubt we shall miss the boat as usual. We are always late for the party (Unlike Johnson and Symonds) so we end up with the leftovers rather than rich pickings.
Time for our chairman to smell the coffee and pull his finger out.

  • wentworth says:

What is it that Spurs does to our players?
We have the talented N’Dombele who has turned into a lazy, ambling, moody player. Get rid.
We have Lo Celso, the Argentinian star, shuffling around the pitch on one leg and constantly falling over. Get rid.
Doherty, who was the darling attacking wing back of Wolves, now looking an embarrassing lost cause.Get rid.
Winks, the rising England midfield star, now spinning in ever decreasing circles. Keep.
Bergwijn, young Dutch protege, now a one hit wonder. Get Rid.
Emerson, prospective top attacking wing back, unable to cross a ball for toffee. Get rid.
Dele, a superb attacking, goalscoring England midfielder ghosting in, now looking disconsolate and lost. Keep/loan out.
Tanganga, loads of promise. now looking vulnerable and error driven. Loan out.
Sanchez, top Colombian central defender, error prone and dodgy. Keep.
Bryan Gil, outstanding Spanish potential, but now a lost cause. Loan out.
Jack Clarke, great Leeds prospect, totally lost and has gone backwards. Loan out/sell.
Ryan Sessegnon, brilliant prospect from Fulham with two great seasons behind him, now a shadow of his original potential.
    Daniel Levy..where is he?

  • Niall D says:

    Hi WW
We need to look at our scouting, why did the likes of PSG get rid of LoCelso and, Aurier ot Lyon off load N’jie and N Dombele, why would Barca be rid of Emerson or RM be rid of Regs?
Simply because they ain’t good enough and I feel our scouts were” Bluffed “by the big teams, well if they wanted them, surely they must be good enough for” Lowly Spurs” well sadly on too many occasions, these players simply weren’t good enough, at all….
This in all honesty smacks of lazy scouting, simply going to the big teams and taking the scraps from their table. If he’s listed with PSG then he must be good, sorry wrong, the big teams get it wrong too on many occasions.
In reality we need a scouting system which works, unfortunately, the day of the luxury “hanky ball” player is gone, teams now need to be workman l Iike, fitter, more resilient, multi task players.
I think that’s the reason why both N’Dombers and Dele are now, beyond saving, one is, a luxury player the other is a one trick pony who plays in a position which (in reality) no longer exists and he can’t adapt to another.
In some ways with Sess and Doh and Rodon We have been unlucky as they were mooted for greatness but in a Spurs shirt it hasnt come to fruition.
Similarly our academy players, Winksy and (perhaps) Tananga haven’t hit the heights expected, tho’Winksy is doing well currently coming on to where he should ve been two years ago.
In reality from top to bottom since the CL, our management, scouting, and recruitment has been nothing short of lazy, focused on the new stadium and little else.
