“Might See Himself At Spurs” – Former Player Believes Rangers Star Would Be Tempted With A Move

|

Star Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has already featured on Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer rumour mill as back in January it was suggested we’d make a move for him as backup and cover to Harry Kane.

Predictably nothing came of the speculation, as given Morelos’s goal return for Steven Gerrard’s side, he was linked with a plethora of Premier League and Championship sides during the last window…as he had been during the summer window.

Would You Gamble On Morelos?

Price Depending Yes

No, Nowhere Near The Quality We Want

The 23-year-old has certainly had his disciplinary issues north of the border since arriving in Glasgow from HJK Helsinki, but the Colombian international has shown significant improvement this season – only gaining two reds having been double booked on both occasions – whilst maintaining his impressive goal return of 29 in 46 matches.

Given transfer fees should understandably be deflated whenever the season gets back underway and we go into the next transfer window, you can bank on seeing more speculation, but it actually brings him into the ballpark of potentially being an affordable gamble for us now.

It seems this is the driver for former Spurs striker Darren Bent who has again commented on the player.

“He’s a good player, I think he’ll be alright and it’s patience for him over a move – what he doesn’t want to do is take something for the sake of it. He hasn’t been great recently but at the same you need to just stay with it. He’s a fiery character, the Rangers fans love him and he has, at times, been very, very good for them. When I say it’s about timing, he might see himself at Spurs and why shouldn’t he? He might think his ability, the way he plays, is good enough for a team like Spurs which is fair enough. He doesn’t need to jump to anything – he can just wait and wait. He’s got time on his hands and if he’s patient he might just end up at one of those clubs. Right now he needs to keep his head down and keep working hard.”

Given the assumption of a far more practical fee moving forward, the question is, does he have the temperament to effectively play second fiddle to Harry Kane, whilst he proves he can repeat his goalscoring efforts in what many, maybe unfairly, think is a substandard, two-horse race of a league.

For the right price, with international experience under his belt now as well as Europa League involvement, I’d take the gamble given his recent mentality improvements.
