On loan Egyptian striker Mido has said the next four games will shape the season for Spurs and show whether they can be genuinely up there challenging in the Premiership.

Spurs play Manchester United away, Arsenal, Bolton and West Ham.

Mido says Spurs ambitions of Champions League qualification are realistic, as is the aim to finish above Arsenal. Who?

Mido said: ‘I think there’s a lot of potential in this team. I think we must put ourselves under pressure to carry on getting results. We were very happy with the win over Everton because it was very important for us to win as the next four games are very difficult.

‘Next week we have a hard game at Manchester United and all we are thinking about is to go there and come back with the best results. But it’s a nice feeling to go into the north London derby ahead of Arsenal.’

Jol has said he likes Mido’s mentality: ‘I like his mentality during games. Even when he’s losing headers or losing possession because of a bad touch his mentality remains 100% – He is 22 years of age but everyone thinks he’s 28 or something like that.’

The Egyptian striker scored his first Spurs goal with a header against Everton last weekend.

Jol added: ‘He is important for us because he?s involved in 50% of our goals with assists and if he gets crosses, you will all see he’s one of the best in Europe because he’s a very good finisher with his head. He just hasn’t had that many crosses this season but we’re working on that.’
