Match Thread – Will Spurs Get Back To Their Dinamo-ic Best For Zagreb

|

After a deeply disappointing North London derby against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, Tottenham Hotspur have another quick turnaround in the fixture list as we face Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday evening in the second leg of our Europa League Round of 16 clash.

Thanks to a brace of goals from Harry Kane in the White Hart Lane leg of the affair, to put it bluntly, we will have to be at our pragmatic and defensive best under manager Jose Mourinho to not increase the margin of victory and comfortably put ourselves through to the net round.

The problem there being of course, just as we thought maybe the tide had turned and we would get our Premier League form back on a proper track, we continue to prove that we can be so inconsistent that I can’t be alone in fearing that home soil Dinamo will make up for their very unimpressive showing in the first clash.

Mourinho will again rotate for this one, but our pool of players shrinks as Eric Lamela serves the first of his two game ban, Giovani Lo Celso is still rated as doubtful for this one and even if Son Heung-Min does recover quite quickly from his muscle injury, you can’t see him even playing a part on the bench in midweek.

We’ll have to see if Mourinho has some unexpected good news when he gives his press conference later in the week.

Currently watching the Cherries v Soton FA cup tie, I’m really at a loss to understand why CCV is still on our books, maybe he is worth more in loan fees than we would get from selling him?

I suspect that Mourinho could clear much air in the changing room if he said that he shared the responsibility for the poor showing and malaise, and that he and the players are all in this together. But he cannot do that. There is a deep pathology in his being. The deflection of blame onto others is deeply embedded in him.

All praise is owed to him. All blame is due to others. And with this attitude there is no doubt that at some time the players will respond by playing with hesitation, with resentment, with depression. It happens wherever he manages, and it is utterly predictable and it has happened here. Put simply he has passed his sell-by date, and must be removed from the shelf.

This is inevitable and has been wherever he has been, will be wherever he will be, and unfortunately for us, is where is now is. There is only one part of this formula that can be acted upon. Send him away from here.

All of this was absolutely predictable on the day that his hiring was announced. It was, and is, as the Greeks said, a matter of destiny. It was written in the stars on the day he way born. A streaking comet in the sky that will burn out and die in the atmosphere. At worst it will streak a wee bit too long and crash into the earth, bringing about despair and pain. He is the comet that killed the dinosaurs and he thus has taken on the form of a dinosaur.

Open your eyes, Oh DL, and pronounce what is in your power: Be gone, Oh Malevolent One, Be gone, or woe are we. Look in the eyes of our players on the pitch are read the signs. Send this man to his ultimate destiny in Hades to live in pallid shadows of despair of his own making.

Let resurrection come to N17. Let the rebirth take place in the light of the living sun. Allow us to be removed from our suffering. Let the sun shine through and let flowers bloom and angels sing. Let a new dawn arrive with all of its hope and with the happiness that comes to a family with the birth of the next generation. Give us cause to smile once again. Let glory return. Let us play like Hot Spurs. Send the man of the frozen heart be cast out. Free us like Moses led his Yids to a promised land.

HK, sounds like you have a touch of that cabin fever I referred to in an earlier comment.

TQ re CCV for the cherries nearly an own goal and a 5/10 performance, against S’oton, he could make out first 11 if he plays any worse,. 😉

When JM came to Spurs, Dier, Winks & Ali were regular England Internationals Look what he has done to them, no confidence no belief in themselves. He did the same at united with Shaw & Pogba by destroying them to the media. Not fit enough to be a Spurs manager.

  • TK says:

A agree, John Wright-minded, JM is a destructive force. My most optimistic dream is for him to manage at Arsenal next.

  • TK says:

Even HK10 played like a defeated man at Zagreb. Keep it up, JM, and HK10 will be dropped from the English internationals soon enough. JM’s destructive impulses know no bounds.
