Match Thread – WHL Comforts For Spurs As We Look To Lay Down A Marker & Cut Through The Toffees

|

Well, it’s been a strange old summer for supporters of all clubs, let alone Tottenham Hotspur fans but it’s finally time for the first match thread of 2020/21.

I trust this finds the good citizens of Vital Spurs and their wider bubbles, in good health and spirits, as this coming season is bound to be a rollercoaster, both on and off the pitch!

2019/20 was interesting, to say the least, with our problems and the changes we saw (nobody mention poor performances), so this year after a semi-busy transfer window of captures, we also have Europa League qualification to look forward to – which simply only complicates things further given the additional games we face for barely a Plovdiv of financial benefit compared to the Champions League itself.

But it’s Everton up first as we go into a new strange season where fans still won’t be in attendance and nobody knows if we’ll actually perform like the Spurs we expect either, but the likelihood is more of the same pragmatic type of football Jose Mourinho is famed for – we just have to hope the results follow.

Everton...

Win

Draw

Lose

It’s a busy start to the season with five games to pack in ahead of us slipping into October, so can we lay down a marker against the Toffees and show that we’ve learnt from last season’s mishaps?

Tottenham Hotspur's foundations lie in another sport, which one?

Well I must say that was an enjoyable chat via posts between a number of you, keep it up.

Just read our LB Davies, whinging on about what JM said after Sundays’s game, he went on to say I played 100%, was the best on the day, as I expect the rest of the lads did, think he needs to watch a recording of the game, because if what we saw was Spurs players giving 100%, we are in deep shit simple as that and a long season cometh. COYS please!

That’s a bit rude HT, asking EJ if he’s the agent of his two nephews!

  • Hot Tottingham says:

Geof, you’re the second poster today that has made me genuinely LOL. Cheers to you and cheers to TQ.

I have a question for you EJ. Which Portuguese club do you support/follow?

  • El Jefe says:

    HT – LOL!

    Geof – LOL!

I do honestly think Dele is top notch (at only 24 – his record already speaks for itself – just a shame about the bloody injuries thus loss of time and form, etc holding him back these last 2 seasons and the side also playing worse and worse not helping him either)!

As for Josh King no doubt for me a decent signing also – ticks so many different and important boxes already!

Especially when compared to: Deeney, Sorloth, Bas Dost, even Diallo, etc!

Furthermore would probably still take him over the likes of Watkins, Wilson, Willian Jose, etc.

Only the likes of Milik, Belotti, Vinicius, Ings would be a match/upgrade but then they are all rated at a a minimum of £30m+ (and that’s for Milik because has less than a year on his contract, the other’s you’re pretty much talking £50m+, etc and only Ings is proven in the Prem so far and then there’s their wages to factor in also which will be pretty tasty for these 4 for sure)!

I also really do want to see at least Lo Celso and Dele in the same side regularly – with the likes of Sonny, HK10 even Bergs/Moura or as I said earlier N’Dombele, etc – God help me – we might even see some sexy Spur’s style old school entertaining footy as well – even under JM LOL!

Let’s wait and see what happens but here’s hoping for Dele to get back to his old best form and for a good STR to finally be signed……………………!

HT – I’m a northern monkey when it comes to Portugal, even Spain also – so FC Porto although I’ve got a bit of time for Braga as that’s the biggest city near my Mum’s village in Sao Fins in Tras os Montes (literally translated as – behind the hills LOL) – pretty much the whole of my Mum’s family are Portistas so it was an easy choice on top! A few are ridiculously and embarrassingly Benfica fans – somewhat similar I guess to London Man Utd/LIverpool fans, etc LOL!

In Spain it’s Deportivo for sure also – Coruna in Galicia being the nearest city to my Dad’s village in Codesoso, Sobrado dos Monxes (which loosely tranlates as house of monks)!

Porto did well last season (League and Cup double no less) but because of FFP rules – are currently in big trouble and will have to sell off their stars and pretty much recruit from within Portugal which is much cheaper and not like usual go and get good even top prospects from South America, etc! That said potentially signed/signing 4 new stars in Taremi, Evanilson, Zaidu and possibly also Toni Martinez and maybe a few more to come also – talk of Otamendi for example returning, etc!

Deportivo even worse – we’re now effectively in Spain’s 3rd division after relegation in the summer – very bad times at Depor currently for sure – basically Spain’s version of Leeds Utd (without of course having Leeds Utd’s previous glorious history going back through the decades) – we we’re in our pomp through the 90’s and early 00’s – culminating in indeed winning our 1st ever and only La Liga title in 2000 and reaching the CL semi in 2004 ironically losing to JM’s Porto LOL! Problem is we indebted us constantly in that time to reach new heights and try to maintain them also but unfortunately even with some relative success was still not good enough and now we’re basically damned and if not extremely careful vanquished completely – which is ridiculous given we’re the biggest club in Galicia for sure (bigger than the b-tards at Celta Vigo, Santiago, etc LOL)!

  • Hot Tottingham says:

I’ll take that as a yes then EJ

    You are your nephews agent.

So little Dele Alli and jolly Josh King, Uncle EJ has got our back.

  • El Jefe says:

    Very funny HT LOL!

  • Hot Tottingham says:

EJ, now I’m wondering to myself. Is there a Vital Porto where you are also actively plugging Josh King as their next, exciting new prospect, up front? Or is it he not quite good enough for a double winning team?!

And if I were you, I’d sell, sell, sell, those Deportivo shares! Now!

  • El Jefe says:

CCV to knock down the King asking price surely LOL?!

Luckily never bought Porto or Deportivo shares, only Spur’s thankfully………………………!
