Match Thread – Spurs To Set The Record Straight Against The Bubble Blowers

|

With only one Premier League victory in our last five, Tottenham Hotspur received a much needed boost on Thursday evening as we more than took advantage over OPellets Wolfsberger in our Europa League Round of 32 tie and this Sunday we renew acquaintances with bubble blowers West Ham United.

With Harry Kane rested in midweek, Son Heung-Min also got 45 minutes off and a number of players would’ve received a nice shot of confidence from getting on the scoresheet – but of course, Sunday’s midday kick off will be a different story and the Spammers are in reasonable form of their own, sitting six points ahead of us in the table. Admittedly we have a game in hand on them, but how they have scored more than we have does defy some belief.

We can start putting that situation right though, as there are no doubts whatsoever that if we perform as we know we can, we are more than capable of knocking them off the park.

But as ever, with Spurs this season, it’s down to whether or not we turn up.

West Ham

Win

Draw

Lose

Tottenham Hotspur's foundations lie in another sport, which one?

Looks like this is our cup final.

  • 123spurs says:

This a is a big test of character for jose and the players, West ham are flying high in the table, a must win for us, and not to forgot to 3-3.

Morning all. WOW! …. we’re only four points away from securing PL football next season. Now, we’ve all got to be happy with that. As for this one …. if we win it’s going to be hard for them to beat us!! Meanwhile, back at the ranch …..

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Geof……I’ll be very happy if we get three points towards that target on Sunday!

  • PompeyYid says:

Well Sunday is the Wet Spam Annual Cup Final at the Council Park, the only thing it is a Cup Final this season for us also, another “must win” game as I believe all our games are now until the end of this season.

Come On You Spurs, please, please beat this lot in their own Council back yard, I hate losing to this bloody lot of racists, esp to us!, even more so than losing to that lot down the road, and that’s bad enough. COYS

    Geof
I remember saying in December that we were only 3 wins from safety, how long ago that seems. 🙁
As usual in the gutter looking at the stars..

  • TQ2Spurs says:

I personally think top 4 has already gone but if we are going to try to keep in touch on the off chance a couple of the current contenders have a bad run then we need to be winning this game.

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

Niall D – is that a line from a Pretenders song. Are you showing your age.
Lose tomorrow and the game is as good as up for Jose – personally I think it is up anyway. He doesn’t have it in him to turn things around. COYS

  • 123spurs says:

To me all we have left is to finish above arsenal and a cup final, or will we be jinxed and jose won a trophy everywhere he went except spurs.

  • 123spurs says:

True DC, jose used to had a lot more worls class players from clubs budding to win the league, now he is at B class in spurs, so he has a lot more B class players to work with, limited budget, failure to get this team top4 is not good enough for him.

  • 123spurs says:

    Ment agreed DH

  • TQ2Spurs says:

I spotted what could be a flaw in the new offside operation whereby the linesman doesn’t flag straight away. In the Saints game the Chavs had a free kick outside the Saints box and Zouma was clearly offside when he headed the ball goalwards. McCarthy made a save and pushed it round the post beyond the goal line. Because it didn’t result in a goal there was no VAR check and the Chavs were awarded a corner from which they might have scored.Surely this is wrong, the Saints should have been awarded a free kick for the offside.

  • 123spurs says:

Very true TQ, if its offside its offside, once the ball is kicked from the free kick and a player is offside it has to be offside.

  • Niall D says:

    Cheers DH
I must be gittin old as I knew the line came from somewhere but couldn’t remember where 🙂
Re tomorrow I think we have the beating of em. No dreams of a score this time folks but we will win this one. Hope you lot are all enjoying the beaches and parks over there. Its frickin been blowin a gale over here for about 3 weeks non stop. See the fekin Irish Sea. 🙁

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Niall….hasn’t been much different over here, roll on spring and some warmer weather!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

I’m relying on our boys to lift my spirits tomorrow, this weekend isn’t going too well having watched both of my local teams – Exetr Chiefs and Torquay – lose at home this afternoon. 🙁

  • Niall D says:

Let’s hope your real team gets a win “amarra” then TQ, COYS.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

    Amen to that Niall! 🙂

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Can’t help but notice how quiet it has been on match days for the past few weeks, I can only think there must be a distinct lack of anticipation/expectation under our current leader?

I haven’t seen anything of HT for the best part of 2 weeks now, hope you are ok mate if you are reading the thread.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Lloris (C), Tanganga, Sanchez, Dier, Reguilón, Højbjerg, Ndombele, Lamela, Lucas, Son, Kane.

Fairly predictable line-up with the welcome return of Reguilon.
