Match Thread – Spurs Face A Potential Champions League NLD

|

Having taken a very good point from Liverpool in our last match – and it could well have been more – this Thursday’s clash with Arsenal at White Hart Lane is now absolutely pivotal in our chase for a top four finish.

Sitting four points behind our north London rivals after recent slips and failures to capitalise in earlier games, there’s far more than just bragging rights at play for this one – but with two games in hand over Manchester United, even the most pessimistic fan will believe we should’ve at least secured a fifth place finish for the 2021/22 campaign, particularly as it’s Burnley and Norwich City to the end of the campaign.

On an injury front, it’s still a case of how we were with Japhet Tanganga, Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon and Oliver Skipp all out for this one – but hopefully they won’t be joined by anyone new when the official update comes out.

All eyes to Thursday!

This will be a tough game, IMO..arsenal have a young team and will try to outrun us and will press all game. However we have more players with big game experience and need to take our chances all str and amf / wb when we can., as longer the game is is 0-0 they will get confidence and be dangerous. A win by the odd goal.. spurs 2-1. COYS

Thursday night see’s a real meaning to a NLD, not just loudest shouting bragging rights, but the CL for next season.

It really could be a humdinger best NLD for bloody years, esp when we win!

When we win, its still leaves the Goons 1 pt ahead of us, and other than us making sure we win our remaining 2, Burnley(H), Norwich(A), the real pressure is on them, Geordies(A) and fighting for their lives Toffees(H), thus we are very much in the hands of others when we win.

    HT great prediction mate.

Oh yes thanks again for an excellent thread Danny. COYS

Win or lose it appears that we have 5th pencilled in .
Not what many wanted but a vast improvement in a short period of time on last season . It means that we go straight into the group stages of the Uefa without any pre group matches unlike finishing 4th would have us playing a knockout roun in the Champions league d and if we lost that we would be placed in the Uefa cup !!
I feel that even with reinforcements Champions League would be a liitle too far for next season .
However I will not be able to watch on Thursday as on the high seas therefore we will win !!

Must win game, even at that may not be enough, it will be so embarrassing if they finish above us this season and worse get UCL and worse again in our stadium.

  • Niall D says:

    Morning folks
I still think we can win every game we have left.
    Will it be enough??
Who knows, I just think it’s our turn to do the old “leap frog thing” Arse have done it to us before.
I would love Chelsea to crash and burn with us and indeed Arse 3rd and 4th, but unlikely
But if we win all of our games, we can do no more.
For Thursday, I do think we have a better team than Arse, and we are at home, also one or two games lately, they have been very fortunate in their results.
Let’s get a win, and a good win

  • Geofspurs says:

I don’t see Spurs being at the arse end of this result.

  • Geofspurs says:

  • Niall D says:

Bit of a Bummer there PY😉
Let’s hope the Arse are the Butt of the joke tomorrow nite.

Substitutes: Gollini, Rodon, Craig, White, Winks, Devine, Bergwijn, Lucas, Scarlett.

  • Geofspurs says:

I was going to watch this when I woke up in the morning but, as I’ve just woken up after four hours sleep and it’s 2:16am, I guess I’ll wait another 30minutes and watch it now!

Great first half. Such a shame Emerson and Sessegnon can’t kick a football. Awful crossing and shooting. We should be 4-0 up with decent wing backs.
    C’mon Harry. Let’s have a hatrick.
We are strong in midfield ( not very creative) and defence. No silly distribution from back Lloris.
We need to win this handsomely

  • Hot Tottingham says:

    UP UP UP THE SPURS!

  • Niall D says:

    Great result
    Everything we could want.
Made a bit of an Arse out of em
    Roll on the weekend
    Let’s win that.
The next games,, should be the easy ones
A we bit more difficult for the Gunners from now on.
    COYS.

  • Big Chiv says:

Great performance. Emerson has been really good in the last two games. He gets a bit over excited when he crosses or shoots but you can’t fault his effort. Sanchez did well tonight, when I saw Romero was missing I was worried, but Sanchez did a great job. Kane looked fired up in the tunnel beforehand and it showed on the pitch. Then Sonny was just amazing as always. Terrific atmosphere as well.

Need to batter Burnley on Sunday, to put the pressure on the Gooners when they take on Newcastle on Monday – surely the richest club in the world won’t want to lose their last home game! COYS!!
